Facing Life

Take a Look at Your Home

A father is more than a provider; he is an example--an influence. A mother is more than a housekeeper and a cook; she is a teacher and companion. A child is more than a body to be fed and clothed; he is a soul to be taught affection and kindness, to be instructed in those things that make clean and wholesome living.

It is when father and mother fulfill their parental function, when children are well trained and disciplined, when each member of the family is more thoughtful of the other than himself that the home is made sweet and beautiful--and secure!

The home is a divine institution. It is the chief school of human virtues. It is in the home that Christian characters are molded, that children develop into men and women. The strength of a nation is in the well-ordered homes of its people. It has been such homes that made America great and strong. If our country is to remain strong and survive, God's will must prevail in the rekindling of the flames of love and the fires of devotion at the hearths of our homes.

What about your home? Are happy relationships one with the other more important than the possession of things and the pursuit of pleasure?

You have a responsibility to your family, to your nation, to God, which you cannot, you must not ignore; that is to encourage righteousness and right relations and to set before the world an example of living together successfully and happily.

"Let them first learn their religious duty to their own family and make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God." I Tim. 5:4
